Tony & FritzCLASS 1
7.30 pm - 8.30 pm

For puppies and dogs that are new to competition work.  Emphasis is placed upon motivation, teaching the dogs to play in a controlled way and to work with enthusiasm.

Training methods vary to suit the individual dog and handler, but everyone is encouraged to use toys or food to motivate and reward their dogs.  Clicker training has recently been introduced to the class, for anyone wishing to train this way.

This class is run mainly on a one-to-one basis, so that the inexperienced dogs can concentrate on their lessons with minimal distraction.

CLASS 2
8.30 pm - 10 pm

For dogs that are working in competitions, and have settled into Beginners or Novice or are working higher classes.

The dogs that are currently training in this class range from Beginner/Novice right up to Championship C and all benefit from the motivational training.

Again, the methods are tailored to suit the individual dog and handler.  Some of the handlers in this class have begun to clicker train their dogs, others use different methods of reward based training, using food or toys.

Distraction exercises are introduced to the dogs in this class so that they learn to cope with the general hustle and bustle encountered at dog shows.

POINTS MAKE PRIZES

Handlers who compete at obedience shows are encouraged to list the places they gain throughout the year in the club's "points book". The club secretary allocates points for every rosette gained, and at the end of the season the points are totted up and trophies or cups are awarded to the best dogs in each class. Trophies are also awarded to dogs who have made great progress throughout the year, and to handlers who have persevered with difficult dogs.
